Frederick Ziemer (1877-1938) had a speakeasy in the basement of his house located on Claurome Avenue. During World War I, Ziermer worked as a sheet metal worker at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Photographs found in the speakeasy suggest that Ziemer may have had a connection to the Roosevelt Fire Department band.
