Freeport Memorial Library is New York State's first war memorial library, dedicated as such on Memorial Day in 1924. In 1925, the Library officially changed its name from Freeport Library to Freeport Memorial Library. In 1928, a memorial tablet bearing the names of military servicemen who were Freeporters and that died in the Civil War, Spanish American War and WWI was dedicated. Are you an active duty military member or a veteran with a parking ticket? The Veterans Court Program dedicated to assisting veterans and active duty military members with traffic and parking violations. Court is held at 2pm on the third Thursday of every month.
Upon proper identification, the veteran or active duty military member will be given every courtesy to resolve their violations or Notices of Liability. Nassau County Traffic & Parking Violations Agency (NCTPVA) will work with the District Court to bundle all traffic violations together. NCTPVA will attempt to resolve the violations in one visit unless additional information is required. Some factors that will be used to determine the disposition of the violations is frequency of violations, age of violations and severity of violations.

Island Harvest Feeds LI's Veterans
Island Harvest has initiated Operation: HOPE, a mobile food pantry program for military families in need of food assistance. Food is delivered by a veteran who is sensitive to the needs of other veterans and their families. The goal of Operation: HOPE is to connect veterans and military families to veteran services and other social benefits.
