At Freeport Memorial Library, we  our seniors!  Here are some of the services and resources that may be of particular interest to our seniors. Contact the library for more details.

Homebound Service - Books and other materials are delivered to your home once a week.

Talking Books - Audio books for patrons with low vision or who are blind.

A.A.R.P. Programs - Careversations, Monthly defensive driving course and other AARP sponsored programs.

Get Help with Medicaid

Did you know?

FREE application assistance is now available to help you, or someone you love, apply for health insurance programs for the aged (seniors 65+), certified blind, and certified disabled. Come in and meet with an Application Assistance Enroller. This person will assist you in the application process. Health insurance staff will be here from every fourth (4th) Tuesday from 10am - 2pm. If you are unable to attend, you can send an authorized representative. Call (631) 656-9783 or go to our website at www.coverage4healthcare.com to obtain an authorization form.  First come, first served basis. No appointments.

Here are the programs that specially trained staff will be able to assist the aged, blind, and disabled populations apply through the local DSS offices:

  •   Medicaid (Non-MAGI)
  •   Medicaid with a Spenddown
  •   Medicaid for coverage of community-based long-term care services
  •   Medicaid for Institutionalized Persons who are applying for coverage of nursing home care
  •   Medicaid buy-in for working people with disabilities program
  •   Medicare Savings Program
  •   Medicaid for institutional care in a nursing home
