Library Resourses

Business Resource Information Center: In the fall of 2013, the Board of Trustees voted to dedicate the Business Resource Information Center (BRIC) as an area within the Library where current and potential entrepreneurs could find reliable information and resources.  Located on the main floor, BRIC contains a state-of-the-art smart board, specially designed conference table, WIFI, and all of the appropriate connections for mobile devices.  The center is also equipped with a collection of business related books and materials, as well as a computer with customized databases essential for research and business development.

BRIC also serves as a place where entrepreneurs can acquire the skills and training essential to becoming and remaining competitive in a business environment.  Examples of programs offered include training on effective use of social media, Microsoft Office Products, databases, business-to-business networking, and more.

ONE-ON-ONE BUSINESS COUNSELING: A counselor from the Small Business Development Center is be available on Thursdays for one-on-one counseling for those interested and developing a successful business.  By appointment only.  For more information about this service or to schedule an appointment, please contact the ASK Department at 516-379-3274 ext. 505.

Free Career Counseling: Skills Assessment, Cover Letters, Resume Writing, and Interview Techniques.  This is a free service.  For more information, or to make an appointment, call the Library's Computer and Career Center at 516-379-3274.

Public Access Computers: The Library's Computer and Career Center has 28 public access computers that are available for use on a first-come, first-served basis by patrons age 18 or over, or with written parental consent.  To use a computer, please present your identification at the staff desk, and you will be assigned a computer, or a spot on the waiting list.   

Freeport First: The Freeport Memorial Library maintains a local jobs listing binder in which businesses in the immediate area will the send the library their job openings for the public to see and apply to.  It is updated monthly.  The library also maintains a listing of upcoming civil service tests for the Village of Freeport, the Town of Hempstead, and Nassau County.  This is updated frequently. 

Freeport Library Social Work Student:  The social work student can help make referrals for patrons that need social services including unemployment benefits, housing applications, voting forms, and many other applications.  Student will be here in the Fall 2024 Wednesdays 5:00-9:00 PM and Sundays 1:00-4:00 PM.  For more information on that Social Work Student please call the library at 516-379-3274 or email us ask@freeportlibrary.info.
