Billy Joel

Billy Joel grew up in Hicksville and has been documented as living in Oyster Bay in recent years. His first solo album was named after the Long Island town known as Cold Spring Harbor. Among Joel's other ties to Long Island are performing at numerous local venues (e.g. Nassau Coliseum, The Paramount), penning "The Downeaster Alexa" about the plight of Long Island fishermen, and multiple band members of his being Long Island natives (e.g. Liberty DeVitto, Richie Cannata).

A commercially-released concert filmed by Joel on Long Island at the Nassau Coliseum in the early 1980s can be seen here. Information about an unannounced performance by Joel at Amagansett's Stephen Talkhouse can be found here. Some of Long Island venues which Joel performed at as an up-and-coming artist can be found here.
