Anesthesia was a 2015 American independent drama written, directed by, and starring Tim Blake Nelson. It featured a stellar cast, including Sam Waterston as philosophy professor Walter Zarrow, Kristen Stewart as a troubled student, Glenn Close and Gretchen Mol as members of interconnected suburban lives, and Corey Stoll as a conflicted husband thrust into the drama of a violent mugging in New York City. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 22, 2015, later receiving a limited theatrical and video-on-demand release via IFC Films in January 2016.
