Cheryl “Salt” James, Sandra “Pepa” Denton, and Spinderella (Dee Dee Roper) are generally thought of as a Queens-based group, as Salt and Pepa reportedly met while studying nursing at Queensborough Community College. However, Salt made headlines in 2021 when it was reported that she was selling her Melville, New York home; she appeared to have purchased that home in the 1990s. The group has also been inducted to the Long Island Music Hall of Fame, and has performed on the Island many times, reportedly as early as 1987 at Westbury Music Fair. Some of the Nassau County Libraries resources on-hand with relation to Salt and Pepa can be found here.
