Tom Thorp Memorial Award was created to honor the Memory of Tom Thorp who was the first president of the Nassau County Football League. Thorp played college football at Columbia University, was a coach at Fordham and New York University, and was a football official. He was also a sports writer. The award was created after his death in 1942.
