Sylvia Plath Introduction

Sylvia Plath- October 27, 1932- February 11, 1963

It could be argued that Sylvia Plath is one of the most important poets of the 20th century. The themes of her poems were often Identity, Societal Expectation, and Mental Health. Sylvia wrote in a Confessional Style.

Even though this dynamic poet from Massachusetts did not live a long life, her influence is clear in many 21st century artists. A 21st century artist that was inspired by Sylvia Plath is Taylor Swift. There are many shared themes and references to Sylvia Plath on Taylor Swift's record, The Tortured Poets Department.
