Bridge and Tunnel, the lovingly crafted comedy‑drama aired via Epix (now MGM+) was created by Long Island native Edward Burns. Set in the early 1980s, the show followed six recent college graduates navigating life’s next chapter while clinging to their working-class roots in Long Island. With its period-perfect aesthetics and local heart, it served as a nostalgic trip through the small towns and tight-knit neighborhoods that defined a generation.
A significant portion of the series was filmed in Lynbrook, where residential streets and storefronts were transformed to evoke that early‑’80s look and feel. As the location manager said during filming, crews scoured for homes that could double as period‑correct backdrops, with vintage cars and signage adding to the authenticity. While in production, cast and crew used local accommodations, staying at a Rockville Centre hotel. Key scenes were filmed at recognizable Ridge Street locations. Freeport also got its moment in the spotlight through -- no spoilers intended -- a date unfolding on what appears to be the Nautical Mile.
Cast members of the series discussed these local ties to Long Island within interviews taped for the Paltrocast, which you can watch here, here and here.
