Long Island's Professional Wrestling History & Landmarks: Inwood

A look at the history of professional wrestling on Long Island, town by town

Inwood

Greg Valentine - IMDb

Inwood, New York, though a relatively small hamlet in Nassau County, briefly found itself in the spotlight of professional wrestling in 1996 when it hosted a Universal Superstars of America event. Held on June 15, 1996, this live wrestling show brought a blend of nostalgia and star power to the local community. The card featured several recognizable names from the golden and early modern eras of wrestling, including Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, "Iron" Mike Sharpe, Scott Putski, and The Booty Man (better known to fans as Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake). These veterans, many of whom had previously competed on major WWF and WCW platforms, presumably brought a high level of experience and charisma to the Inwood crowd.

As Inwood is in close proximity to JFK Airport, one can assume that the majority of WWE and WCW stars have traveled through that and other parts of the Five Towns area when traveling to live events at the Nassau Coliseum.
